Ahead of Apple’s fifth anniversary of the app store some of the top paid iOS apps have gone free. Apple has yet to comment on the apps going free and the apps pages have no explanation why they are free, but considering the App Store went live five years ago I figure it is part of a coordinated effort.
Some of the apps that have gone free are surprising, Traktor DJ is regularly $19.99. The games that have gone free so far are: Infinity Blade II, Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP, Where’s My Water?, Badland and Tiny Wings (iPhone / iPad), there also serving up the beautiful photo annotating app Over, and let’s not forget How to Cook Everything, and Barefoot World Atlas.
I personally have already downloaded Traktor DJ which is too me the golden goose of the free offerings. I have heard great things about Badland and am downloading it now. I have contacted Apple about the matter but have yet to get a response. I will be following up on the story later when I receive more details.
