The president of Xbox, Don Mattrick, is reportedly leaving Microsoft to take the CEO position in the social gaming giant Zynga. Mattrick is also said to be the front runner to take the vacant CEO position at EA.
First reported on “All Thing Digital”, sourced close to ATD also said that the official announcement from Microsoft could be coming as soon as today. Being the President of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business department, Mattrick unveiled the Xbox One earlier this year.
Mattrick was also the representative from Microsoft to announce their DRM flip-flop. He garnered a lot of hate for first supporting the idea of an always online console and then stepping back on it.
I really don’t think people will like him any more if he is moving to Zynga or EA, those are two of the most hated developers in all of gaming. I hope he can take the heat. Bye Don, it has been nice.
Does this mean Xbox is going in a new direction? I hope so. What do you think, comment below.
